Es war bitterkalt in Hamburg und Umgebung. Eigentlich sollte man in der warmen Wohnung bleiben. Trotzdem zog es uns nach Hamburg. Im Rock Café St. Pauli sollte einer der heißesten Metal-Newcomer der letzten Jahre auftreten – Huntress um Frontfrau Jill Janus.

Rock Café St. Pauli? Nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Hard Rock Café an den Landungsbrücken. Ein netter kleiner Club auf dem Kietz. Ein großes Dankeschön an die freundlichen Mitarbeiter. Wir durften uns schon vor dem offiziellen Einlass im kleinen Vorraum etwas aufwärmen. Der Club selbst ist liebevoll eingerichtet und bietet vor der kleinen Bühne Platz für etwa 250 Rock-Fans.

Doch so viel Gäste waren es leider nicht. Gegen 20:30 Uhr kam dann der Opener auf die Bühne – The Name aus Haarlem bei Amsterdam (Niederlande). Zu meiner Schande muss ich gestehen, dass ich diese Band vorher nicht kannte. Frontfrau Hadassa hat mich mit ihrer kraftvollen Stimme und ihrer Bühnenperformance vom ersten Moment an überzeugt. Auch ihre drei Mitstreiter an den Instrumenten zeigten ihr Können. Groovender Metal, eingängige Songs, schöne Hooklines, druckvoller klarer Sound. Das Fehlen des Bassisten (er muss zur Zeit seinen Wehrdienst leisten) merkte man kaum. Ein tolles Konzert, das Appetit auf mehr macht.

Doch dann kam leider die große Enttäuschung. Wegen einer Lebensmittel-Vergiftung von Sängerin Jill Janus mussten Huntress ihren Auftritt leider absagen. Schade. Dann hoffe ich auf den nächsten Auftritt in Hamburg.

It was bitterly cold in Hamburg and the surrounding area. One should stay really warm indoors. Still, it moved us to Hamburg. At the Rock Café St. Pauli should one of the hottest metal newcomers in recent years occur – Huntress around front woman Jill Janus.

Rock Café St. Pauli? Not to be confused with the Hard Rock Café at the piers. A nice small Club on the Kietz. A big thank to the staff. We were allowed to warm us even before the official entry in the small anteroom. The club itself is lovingly furnished and can accommodate about 250 rock fans in front of the small stage.

But unfortunately there weren’t so much guests. The opener on the stage was The Name from Haarlem to Amsterdam (Netherlands) at 20:30. To my shame, I must confess that I didn’t know before of this band. Front woman Hadassa has me convinced from the very first moment with her powerful voice and her stage performance. Also their three musicians on the instruments demonstrated their abilities. Groovy metal, catchy songs, beautiful hooklines, powerful and clear sound. We barely noticed the absence of the bass player (he must do his military service at the time). A great concert that whets your appetite for more.

But then came the big disappointment unfortunately. Because of food poisoning by singer Jill Janus, Huntress had to cancel their appearance. What a pity. Then I hope for the next gig in Hamburg.
