Auf Malta, einer Mittelmeerinsel südlich von Sizilien, findet im März zum zweiten Mal das Metal Over Malta Festival, Austragungsort des zweitätigen Events (18./19.03.) ist das Chateau Buskett. Organisiert wird das Festival von den Mitgliedern der Band Weeping Silence.

Als Headliner wurde Septicflesh, eine Symphonic Death Metal Band aus Griechenland, bombastisches Soundgewand mit bitterbösen Death Metal Growls. Gothic Doom bringen The Foreshadowing aus Italien auf die Bühne. Ruhige getragene Klänge dazu tiefer Klargesang. Auch Thurisaz aus Belgien haben sich dem Doom verschrieben. Die Veranstalter des Festivals Weeping Silence haben im Oktober letzten Jahres ihr viertes Album “Opus IV Oblivion” veröffentlicht, eine Meisterwerk der Düster-Metals. Live konnte ich die Band auf dem Dames Of Darkness erleben. Mit Eyes Wide Open (Schweden) steht eine Melodic Metal Band und mit Victims Of Craetion (Malta) eine weitere Doom Metal Band auf der Bühne. Die Gothic Rocker von Apparition konnte ich ebenfalls bereits auf dem Dames Of Darkness erleben. Die dritte maltesische MartYriuM werden die Bühne mit ihrem Industrial Death Metal shreddern.
