Hallo Aline, Du bist bei Musikfans in Deutschland noch nicht sehr bekannt. Stelle Dich und Deine Band Lyria bitte ganz kurz vor.

Hallo! Vielen Dank für die Einladung. Ich bin Aline, die Sängerin von Lyria, einer Symphonic Alternative-Metal-Band aus Brasilien . Ich mochte es schon immer zu singen und zu schreiben, und ich glaube, dass Musik das Leben der Menschen ändern kann. Ich will durch Musik positive Nachrichten an die Menschen übergeben.

Ich gründete Lyria im Jahr 2012. Zick und Eliezer kamen Ende 2013 dazu, und wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir unser erstes Studioalbum veröffentlicht haben.

Im September erschien Euer Debutalbum „Catharsis“. Ich finde es ausgesprochen gelungen. Viele einprägsame Mid-Tempo Songs und als Abschluss „Craven“, eine wunderschöne Ballade. Wie erfolgt das Songwriting.

Danke für das Kompliment. Das ist etwas schwer zu erklären. Manchmal habe ich den Text, aber ich habe nicht die Melodie, manchmal das Gegenteil. Manchmal habe ich beides gleichzeitig. Bei einigen Songs war die Instrumentierung bereits fertig und ich habe die Gesangs-Melodie dazu geschrieben und manchmal umgekehrt.

Die Texte klingen teilweise sehr düster. In „Revenge“ zum Beispiel steht folgende Textzeile: „Du lässt mich große Qualen spüren“. Oder in „The Phoenix Cry“: „Ich glaube, ich bin verloren in der Zeit, zu viel Schmerz, so viele Lügen“. Woher nimmst Du die Inspiration für diese Texte? Werden dabei eigene Erfahrungen verarbeitet?

In der Regel ist es etwas, das ich selbst erlebt habe, oder ich habe gesehen, dass jemand in solch einer Situation war.

Und welche Aussage haben Eure Songs? „Sei stark und stolz, und dann kannst Du die Schwierigkeiten überwinden“?

Ja, das ist die Botschaft! Du überwindest schlechte Momente. Es gibt immer das Gute und das Böse, aber Du kannst wählen, was Du werden willst.

Ihr habt Euer Album-Debut mit Hilfe Eurer Fans in einer Crowdfunding Kampagne vorfinanziert. 8.000 $ kamen zusammen. Einen kleinen Beitrag habe ich auch dazu geleistet. Was hat Euch zu diesem Schritt veranlasst? Was sagt Ihr zu der großen Resonanz und Unterstützung?

Ich weiß, danke 😉 Ich dachte, es war Zeit, dies zu versuchen, ansonsten wäre es wirklich schwer gewesen, das Album veröffentlichen. Aber ich hatte nicht mit so viel Unterstützung gerechnet.

Ich danke allen Menschen, die uns geholfen und ich hoffe, dass all diese das Albums mögen, weil alles mit Liebe und Ehrlichkeit aufgenommen wurde. Ich habe noch Kontakt mit vielen Anhängern, und das ist geil!

Wenn man Brasilien hört, dann denkt man an Carneval in Rio, Copa Cabana oder den Zuckerhut. Als Metalhead aber natürlich auch an Bands, wie Sepultura und Cavalera Conspiracy, aber auch Angra, Almah, Andre Matos, Krisiun oder Tierramystica. Wie groß sind diese Einflüsse auf Eure Musik?

Ja, du hast vergessen, Sertanejo und Funk zu erwähnen, Hahaha. Metall ist nicht sehr beliebt, vor allem in Rio de Janeiro. Aber ich bin wirklich glücklich, dass es große Bands wie diese in Brasilien gibt und es gibt mir Hoffnung. Ich mag Andre Matos sehr und einige Songs von Angra. Aber diese Bands sind nicht meine musikalischen Einflüsse.

Auf Eurem Album stehen die Namen von drei Bandmitgliedern. Im Videoclip „Live at Rio Rock & Blues” stehen jedoch vier Musiker auf der Bühne. Habt Ihr jetzt ein neues Mitglied?

Wir haben einen Gitarristen für Konzerte.

Bei “Rio Rock & Blues” covert Ihr “Bring Me To Life” von Evanescense. Welche weiteren Bands beeinflussen Euer musikalisches Schaffen?

Nightwish, Epica, Xandria, Metallica und viele mehr, Haha.

Wie wichtig sind für Euch Live-Auftritte? Trefft Ihr Euch nach der Show mit Euren Fans?

Ich stehe gerne auf der Bühne und treffe mich danach auch gern mit unseren Fans. Auf unserer Facebook-Seite haben wir ein Album mit Fotos mit den Fans. Sie sind uns sehr wichtig.

Können die Fans in Europa in naher Zukunft auch mit Live-Auftritten rechnen?

Ich hoffe es. Wir wollen das unbedingt, aber wir begannen die Shows in unserem Land wegen der Kosten.

Aline, Du hast eine wunderschöne Mezzosopran-Stimme. Hattest Du eine klassische Gesangsausbildung?

Danke! Ja, das habe ich. Ich begann im Alter von 13 Jahren den Gesangunterricht und hatte 3 verschiedene Lehrer. Jetzt nehme ich keinen Unterricht, weil ich keine Zeit dafür habe, aber ich übe immer. Ich hoffe, bald wieder Unterricht mit meinem Lehrer zu nehmen.

Hi Aline, You are still more or less unknown among music fans in Germany. Please briefly introduce yourself and your band Lyria.

Hi! Thank you for inviting me. I am Aline, the singer of Lyria, a Symphonic Alternative Metal band from Brazil . I’ve always liked to sing and to write, and I think music can change people’s life. I want to pass good messages to people through music.

I founded Lyria in 2012. Zig and Eliezer came in the end of 2013, and we are very glad to have our first album released.

Your debut album „Catharsis“ was released in September. I think it’s really good. Many catchy mid-tempo songs and finally „Craven“ a beautiful ballad. How does the songwriting prozess take place.

Thank you for the compliments. This is something hard to explain. Sometimes I have the lyrics but I don’t have the melody, sometimes the opposite. Sometimes I have both at the same. Some songs the instrumental came first and I created the melody after that and sometimes the opposite occurred.

The lyrics sound sometimes very dark. In „Revenge“ for example is the following line of text: „Intense pains is what you make me feel“. Or in „The Phoenix Cry“: „I feel I am lost in time, too much pain, so many lies“. Where do you get the inspiration for those texts? Are there own experiences processed?

Generally it is something I have lived or I’ve seen someone in that situation.

And what is the message of your songs? “Be strong and proud, and you can overcome the difficulties”?

Yes, that is the message! You can overcome bad moments. There will always be the good and the evil, but you can choose what you want to be.

You’ve financed your album debut with the help of your fans in a Crowdfunding campaign. $8,000 came together. I‘ve made a small contribution too. What led you to this step? What do you say to the great response and support?

I know, thank you 😉 I thought it was time to try or it would be really hard to release the album. But I wasn’t expecting so many supporters.

I thank all people that helped us and I hope all them liked the album because everything was made with love and true. I still have contact with many supporters and this is awesome!

If you think of Brasil, you think of Carnival in Rio, Copa Cabana or the Sugarloaf Mountain. As a metalhead but of course you think also of bands like Sepultura and Cavalera Conspiracy, as well as Angra, Almah, Andre Matos, Krisiun or Tierramystica. How large are these influences on your music?

Yes, you forgot to mention sertanejo and funk, hahaha. Metal is not very popular, especially in Rio de Janeiro. But I feel really happy that there are great bands like these in Brazil and it gives me hope. I like Andre Matos a lot and some songs from Angra but these bands are not my musical influence.

On your album, there are three band members listed. In the video clip „Live at Rio Rock & Blues“ however, four musicians are on stage. Do you now have a new member?

We have a guitar player for concerts.

At „Rio Rock & Blues“ you covered „Bring Me To Life“ by Evanescense. What other bands have influenced your musical work?

Nightwish, Epica, Xandria, Metallica and many more, haha.

How important are live gigs for you? Do you meet your fans after the shows?

I love to be on the stage and meeting fans. On our Facebook we have an album with photos with the fans. They are very important to us.

Can the European fans expect live performances in the near future?

I hope so. We want it so bad, but we started the shows in our country because of the costs.

Aline, you have a beautiful Mezzo-soprano voice. Did you have a classical vocal training

Thank you! Yes, I did. I started singing classes when I was 13 and I had 3 different teachers. Now I’m not having classes because of time, but I am always practicing. I hope to take classes with my teacher again soon.
