Im November war das Docks Within Temptation an zwei aufeinanderfolgenden Tagen restlos ausverkauft. Dieses Mal ging’s gleich in die größere Sporthalle. Und diese war an diesem milden Frühlingsabend gut gefüllt. Zum ersten Mal konnte ich WT live auf einer großen Bühne erleben.

Den Abend eröffneten ihre Landsleute von Delain. Leider gibt es inzwischen auf vielen Konzerten die unschöne Angewohnheit, die Vorbands schon vor dem eigentlichen Konzertbeginn auf die Bühne zu schicken. Bereits viertel vor acht begannen  Charlotte Wessels und ihre Jungs ihren ca. halbstündigen Auftritt. Sie präsentierten ihr kürzlich erschienenes Album “The Human Contradiction”. Aber auch Songs der früheren Alben “We Are The Others”, “April Rain” und “Lucidity” standen auf dem Programm. Ein starker Auftritt!

Gegen 21:00 startete dann die Show von Within Temptation. Das Intro wurde von einem kurzen Film unterlegt, bevor mit dem ersten Song “Let Us Burn” den Fans so richtig eingeheizt, im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Flammensäulen auf der Bühne untermalten den Song. ie Band präsentierte ihr neues Album “Hydra”. Aber auch die Hits der früheren Alben wie “Stand My Ground”, “Mother Earth” und “Ice Queen”. Selbst das Duett mit Rapper Xzibit “And We Run” funktionierte live. Eine Show für Auge und Ohr. Der Sound war überraschend gut und die Lichtshow überragend. Einziger Kritikpunkt für mich an diesem grandiosen Abend  (wie auch am Album): Aus der melancholisch schönen Ballade “Summertime Sadness” von Lana del Rey wurde ein fröhlicher Mittanz-Popsong. Schade da wäre mehr möglich gewesen.

In November 2011, Within Temptation completely solds out the “Docks” on two consecutive days. This time they went straight to the larger “Sporthalle”. And it was well filled on this mild spring evening in April. For the first time I was able to experience Within Temptation live on a big stage.

The evening was opened by their compatriots of Delain . Unfortunately at many concerts now, there is unsightly habit to send the opening acts on stage before the actual start of the concert. Already seven forty-five Charlotte Wessels and her boys began their half-hour appearance. They presented their recently released album „The Human Contradiction“ . But even songs from the previous albums „We Are The Others“,  “April Rain“ and „Lucidity“ were on the program . What a performance!

About 21:00 the show with Within Temptation started. The intro was underlain by a short film before the fans were really fired up with the first song „Let Us Burn“ in the truest sense of the word. pillars of flames on stage under painted the song. The band presented their new album „Hydra“. But else the hits of the previous albums such as „Stand My Ground“, „Mother Earth“ and „Ice Queen“. Even the duet with rapper Xzibit „And We Run“ worked live . A show for both eyes and ears. The sound was surprisingly good and the light show outstanding. The only criticism on this magnificent evening for me (as well as on the album) : From the beautifully melancholic ballad “ Summertime Sadness“ by Lana del Rey was turned into cheerful admittance – pop song . Too bad there could have been more.
